Data we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account details: your name, mobile number, account type (business owner or employee), business name and business type | To create your account, log you in with a one-time code (OTP) sent to your mobile number, and link you to your business |
| Business records you enter: service items and service calls (customer name, customer mobile number, item and issue details, charges, remarks, assigned engineer, status), to-do reminders and activity history | To provide the app's features to you and your business's staff |
| Device condition photos: photos of customers' devices that staff take or choose when a job is received or updated | To record the condition of the device while it is with the business |
| SMS pack details: plan, balance, validity and purchase requests | To send customer SMS updates on behalf of your business |
| Device push token | To notify your business's staff when new items, calls or reminders are added |
| App usage and crash data: app interactions, device model, OS version, crash reports | To understand how the app is used, and to find and fix bugs |
We do not collect your location, contacts, files or payment card details, and we do not show ads. The app only uses the camera or photo gallery when you choose to add a device photo.
Customer data
Businesses enter the names and mobile numbers of their own customers into ServiceBook. The business is responsible for having permission to store this data and to message its customers. We store and process it only to provide the service to that business.
Who we share data with
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): login, database, cloud functions, push notifications, photo storage (Cloud Storage for Firebase), analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics). Data is stored on Google's servers.
- SMS provider (bulksmsplans.com): when your business sends a customer SMS, the customer's mobile number and the message text are sent to this provider for delivery.
- WhatsApp: when you choose to message a customer on WhatsApp, the app opens WhatsApp with the customer's number and message filled in. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to messages sent there.
- Your business: records you create are visible to the owner and staff of the same business.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law.
We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in Google Firebase, which encrypts data at rest. In the app, records are shown only to signed-in members of the business they belong to.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app, or by email request. Deleting a business owner's account deletes the whole business and all its records. See how to delete your account.
App permissions
- Internet: to sync your data
- Notifications: to show alerts about new service items, calls and reminders
- Camera / photos: only when you choose to take or pick a device photo
Children
ServiceBook is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
